The Story of Niwa Schoolhouse

 

Niwa Schoolhouse was a dream, a dream that built with                 , passion and dedication for children. ‘Niwa’ stemmed from the Japanese language, with a simple meaning of ‘garden’.

 

In Singapore where we are urbanised with countless sky-scrapers for both commercial and residential purposes, young children often miss the nature bit of life in their growing up years. This new generation will not have the opportunity to enjoy time spent at a neighbourhood playground that is covered with sand, which promotes sensory learning experiences. Furthermore, with the changing dynamics of dual-income families, children spend long hours indoors at a childcare center that they have been enrolled by their parents. Henceforth, Niwa Schoolhouse wants to bring this nature close to the children

 

by setting up a                        in their school.

 

 

Right from the door, Niwa Schoolhouse is a ‘garden’ with growing greens that can be harvest for                 , lush greenery of the ‘Wisdom Tree’, soft and comfy grass that laid on the ground, garden bench for a rest, sweet-smelling scent of lavender flowers that led to the trees along the walkway.

 

Walk further into Niwa Schoolhouse, be pleasantly surprised by the ‘home-grown            ’ that filled up the walls and ceilings of the preschool. Walk gingerly and feel the woody material that was chosen for the flooring for it creates both aesthetic and sensual experiences. Spend some time to look at the works done by Niwa-ians, young and old. Share their learning stories through their expressive artworks that are displayed along the walkway. Take a step into their learning spaces and witness the woody and natural resources that Niwa Schoolhouse has to offer for the young and inquisitive minds.

 

Our Niwa-ians will grow up into our pride and joy who bring with them bountiful of meaningful and enriching times that they have spent throughout their preschool years at Niwa Schoolhouse. Like the Japanese, our Niwa-ians will have their roots deeply etched with respect for oneself and others. They will be a group of resilient and independent individuals who embrace challenges and changes with a           mindset. They will love the nature and care for every living thing on Mother Earth. They will have a keen eye for details and enjoy simple joys in life. Niwa Schoolhouse is one preschool that envision this, live this and will blossom our Niwa-ians whole-heartedly.
